Egyptian Mail Line's HELIOPOLIS of 1907 (later ROYAL GEORGE of 1910)

Port stern view on a sepia-toned postcard of the Egyptian Mail Line's handsome HELIOPOLIS of 1907 heading out to sea.
The Egyptian Mail Line was a short-lived, two-ship steamship company which would fold after a little over three years in operation.  Both ships (HELIOPOLIS and sistership CAIRO) were then purchased by the Canadian Northern Railway in 1910 and renamed ROYAL GEORGE (ex-HELIOPOLIS) and ROYAL EDWARD (CAIRO).  The line would be popularly known as the 'Royal' Line.
Sadly, the First World War would claim the ROYAL EDWARD, being torpedoed in the Aegean Sea in 1915 with 935 souls going down with the ship.  The ROYAL GEORGE would be sold off to the Cunard Line in 1916 (and nicknamed "Rolling George"), finally going to the scrappers in 1922.
NOTE: We are also listing one lot of this ship as the ROYAL GEORGE in wartime grey.
This lovely postcard is in very good condition.
