A superb and rare photo. Shown is the absolutely amazing
Evel Knievel
before his famous jump over the fountains at
Ceasars
Palace
in
Las Vegas
. Evel performed this incredible jump on
the
31ST of December, 1968
.
Unfortunately he did not get the landing right, and crashed severely. It was this jump that gave Evel Knievel world fame. On the photograph, Evel is seen flying with his famous
650cc Triumph Bonneville TT Special jump bike
.  This machine was as rare and special as the stunts that Evel performed with it.  It was heavily tuned and immaculately prepared by both the Triumph factory before it left the factory as by Evel Knievel’s crew.

fountain jump was an incredible jump, totally not comparable with the jumps todays stuntmasters make on bikes that weigh halve the weight, accelerate much faster and have 6 times more suspension travel then Evel’s Triumph!
