Laverda 1000 Jota triple of 1979

The famous Laverda 1000cc triple model series were introduced to the public during the 1972 edition of the
Milan
motorshow.
It entered production the same year.
The famous
Laverda 1000 Jota
is a real classic. Born as an initiative of the British Laverda importer
Roger Slater
, it was taken into production by the Laverda factory in Breganze in
1978
.
The Jota was an instant success as a hyper sports street bike, café racer and above all a terrific base for a racing bike.

It shows the new 1000 Jota from that year.
The front fairing was new in 1979.
Just like the regular 1000 model, the Jota also featured the mighty and very well made
981cc
three cylinder Laverda engine.
It had a bore and stroke of 75 x
74 mm
.
The Jota was a tuned version of the 1000, it was a striking machine that was also used in racing.
Especially in
England
.
Today the Jota is one of the most sought after Laverda models.
In the
USA
, Laverda was also marketed under the
American Eagle
name.
