    Description

A superb and rare photo of the famous
    500cc Moto Guzzi Dondolino
    and the equally famous
    Duilio Agostini
, just before the start of the legendary
    1953
    edition of the
    Milano - Taranto roadrace
in Italy. He would win the race!
The extremely heavy Milano-Taranto (or MiTa) roadrace ran from the North to the South of Italy, a length of circa
    800 miles
    (1,300 km’s), starting was at
    midnight
    in the city of
    Milan
, the finish at the city of
    Taranto
. The riders had to cross mountain passes, coastal roads, short curves, long curves, and road surfaces that were barely rideable at stretches.
Duilio Agostini won the race with his factory Moto Guzzi Dondolino. He needed a time of 11.51’10”. Almost 12 hours, good for an average speed of
    68.55 mph
(109.678 km/hr)! He started in the competition class, and was the fastest overall in all classes as well. He finished half an hour before the number two, Antonio Ronchei on a Gilera 500.
It was a terrific result for the rider that would soon win races worldwide as a Guzzi worksrider! This is your rare chance to own this
    non period
photo that reflects a very interesting and highly historic piece of both Moto Guzzi as Duilio Agostini’s legendary history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 7.8" x 9.2" (ca. 19.8 x
    23.5 cm
    ).
