    Description

Up for auction is a rare photo of Moto Guzzi’s factory windtunnel. The photo shows a rider of Guzzi’s world championship winning factory racing team on a 350cc dohc Bialbero racing machine. With a similar bike Bill Lomas won that year the 350cc world title for Moto Guzzi, after winning GP races.
Moto Guzzi was the first motorcycle factory to build its own windtunnel. It was vital for their Grand Prix racing effort in the 1950’s. The windtunnel was opened at the end of the 1940’s, and was originally driven by a Fiat V12 aircraft engine. In the 1950’s this engine was replaced by an electric engine. Thesedays the windtunnel is still present at the Guzzi factory grounds in Mandello del Lario. It is hardly used for motorcycles, but more so for skee-teams, bobsled teams, and canoe experiments of the Olympic gold medal winning Canottieri Moto Guzzi.
This is a rare opportunity to obtain a
    non period
photo that represents a very special part of Moto Guzzi’s history. It is printed in a nice large size of approx 8” x 12”
(approx. 20 x 30 cm), so it is perfectly suited for framing!
